Meet a woman by the name Mercy Nungari, 45 years of age who is currently a Limuru East ward MCA.She was born in a humble family.
By then, her parents were unable to make ends meet. Before becoming a MCA, she had gone through a lot of agonies.
Due to the fact she was only a girl in a family of six, she did not enjoy the privileges as you think.
Nearly all chores ranging from cooking to fetching water were hers.
She had to make sure that, supper is prepared on time and everything is in place.
Regarding her educational background, she experienced hardships as well ranging from missing classes due to school feels and going to school hungry.
However, she went against the odds by juggling into other task of washing people's clothes in order to get school fees. This was once a housegirl.
"Poverty drove me to work as a maid. We were six kids and my parents’ salary was hardly enough. I was paid Sh1,500 per month for the job," she narrated.
According to her, she was nominated to be an MCA by chance. She didn't anticipate that particular position.
"I became an MCA by chance. Deep down, I wanted to be the voice of the poor and the prisoners.
"I think my work at the Prisons is what opened doors.I was recognised and people urged me to vie for the seat. I was lucky to be nominated," she said.C
Currently she is among the people living an exemplary life after a long time of struggles.
