Kenya has started screening travellers coming into the county after Ebola was reported in Uganda.
The government of Kenya through the Ministry of Health on Wednesday revealed that screening exercise is going on along the border at various entry points and in major airports in the county.
Travellers coming in from DRC Congo, Uganda and neighbouring countries are being checked and screened before they are allowed into the county.
“Incoming travellers from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Uganda and other countries are undergoing screening using the thermo scanners and hand-held thermo guns at major airports, including Wilson Airport,” read a statement from the ministry as quoted by Business Daily.
The ministry has already set up a room at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) where reported cases, if any, will be kept before they are moved to Kenyatta National Hospital for immediate treatment.
On Sunday, it was revealed that travellers from Kisumu International Airport were to be screened before they were allowed to travel to Wilson and Mombasa.
"We wish to dully advice all our passengers departing from Kisumu to Wilson and Mombasa that from Sunday, June 16, they will receive from our Kisumu Check-In Desk a form called Ebola Virus Traveler Surveillance Form," read part of the statement from the Ministry of Health.
Two cases have been reported in Uganda. One of the cases was that of a boy who died on Tuesday. It was reported that the baby had crossed from DRC Congo with his mother.
