A probe into the cause of the Ethiopian Airline Boeing 737 passenger plane that crash has kicked off.

All the 157 passengers on board died after the plane crashed just 6 minutes after leaving the Addis Ababa Airport on its way to Nairobi.  

The victims of the accident come from 33 different countries in the world.  

The crash claimed the lives of 32 Kenyans, 18 Canadians, 9 Ethiopians, 8 Italians, 8 Americans and 8 Chinese. 

Others nationals who perished in the crash include 7 Britons, 7 French, 6 Egyptians, 5 Netherlands, 4 Indians, 3 Russians, 2 Israeli 2 Moroccan, Yemeni, Sudanese, Togo, Mozambican and Norwegian, Belgian and a Ugandan. 

Before the revelation of the death, the Ethiopian government had assured families of the passengers that it had embarked on the rescue operation. 

The Former Kenya Football Federation (KFF) Secretary General Hussein Swaleh was among the notable public figures that perished in the incident. 

President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga are among those who have already sent their messages of goodwill to the families of the bereaved following the crash as investigations continue. .
