LSK president Allen Gichuhi says that Kanjama’s life is still under threat.

Speaking to journalists in Nairobi on Tuesday, the LSK President said that the lawyer had raised fears over his life days after it emerged that he was to be eliminated by assassins.

“We are asking the Inspector General of Police to guarantee Kanjama’s security in relation to the attempted murder of Mr Mukhtar,” he said.

Gichuhi said that lawyers experience serious threats on their lives as they do their work.

Last week detectives revealed that there was a plot to eliminate Kanjama alongside his client.

A suspect who has since died allegedly confessed to having instructions of eliminating the two.

It is said that Kanjama unknowingly interacted with the assassins at his office as they surveyed on how to execute him.

On Sunday, Kanjama said that he had received deaths threats but stated that he will remain steadfast and represent his client.

The lawyer now wants the police to speed up the attempted murder probe.

Mukhtar's family has since requested the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji to intervene on the probe.

The family is accusing the police of plotting to cover up the case.

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI)  George Kinoti has since rubbished the claims saying police are determined to unravel the mystery behind the shooting.
