Acting Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu said the former president remains the party's leader according to judgments made by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal on June 20, 2017 and the High Court on September 11 this year.

Mr Kibaki will work with Mr John Okemwa as the party’s secretary-general, Ms Agnes Toya as his deputy and Mr Alphonse Musyoki as the national organising secretary.

Other officials are Ms Anastacia Munyendo (national treasurer) and Genery Wando as her deputy, Ms Anne Chebet (director of elections), Ms Prisca Mwita (chairperson of the women league) and Ms Beatrice Cherono (chairperson of the youth league).

In 2016, Trade and Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya took over leading to a battle both at the Registrar of Political Parties and High Court where Justice John Mativo took over.

Mr. Munya rebranded the party and almost used it successfully to recapture Meru gubernatorial seat after losing narrowly to Kiraitu Murungi.

The party was formed days to 2007 elections for President Mwai Kibaki to use it for his re-election against Raila Odinga.

Since then, it had failed to take the country's politics by storm as expected, leaving the floor to Jubilee and ODM parties.
