Kisii County senator Sam Ongeri has begged Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i not to forget Gusii region as far development is concerned.
Ongeri while speaking on Friday when he attended a burial at Keera village in Bobasi, Kisii County said Matiang'i's elevation should benefit the people of Kisii and Nyamira counties.
"On behalf of Gusii community leaders, I wish to urge Mr Matiang'i to take advantage of his powerful position in government to push for development in the two Gusii counties," he said.
Ongeri vowed to reach out to Matiang'i to ensure roads are expanded, health centres upgraded and drugs, equipment stocked to make health care services affordable.
He challenged elected leaders to drop their differences and work as a team towards realizing development across the Gusii region.
"Leaders must be willing to work together and walk into Matiang'i's office to request him to push for more development. Politics based on political parties will derail development," he added.
Senator Ongeri reiterated that he won't sleep on his oversight roles in the county saying Governor Ongwae must prioritize development and not his stomach.
