A middle-aged man was stabbed to death in Kiganjo Estate, Thika in what seems like a love triangle.
According to eyewitnesses, the man who has been identified as 'Eduu' was stabbed early Tuesday morning by another man after he got wind that the deceased was sleeping with his wife.
"It is true that Eduu has been coming here with a certain lady and they were sometimes even spending the night here. They were intimately involved without doubt," a tenant in the plot where Eduu was staying said on Wednesday but asked not to be named.
John Mwaura who described the deceased as a 'close friend', says that he knew of the tragic relationship but Eduu may not have been aware that the woman was married.
"He always told me that he knew the young lady well and was even intending to marry her in the near future. I am so pained that my good friend died in such a circumstance. Women should form a habit of telling the truth. Eduu died for nothing and I am sure he was innocent," said Mwaura.
According to residents' account, the deceased was killed when he was out to escort the woman at around 4am after spending the night together.
"He was stabbed at this gate where the woman stays. The woman's husband who does bodaboda job at night may have been told by someone that the wife had left the house and he sneaked back to spy on the wife's night activities," said Mama Jane, a neighbour who witnessed the dawn commotion.
She notes that the husband was awake in the house waiting to hear any movement at the gate.
Mama Jane says that when the husband heard the gate opening, he jumped out and without warning stabbed the man he found his wife with.
"He died instantly and the husband on realising the man had died took off," she adds.
The wife has since been arrested but the husband is still at large.
The body of the deceased was taken to Thika Level Five Hospital mortuary as investigations go on.
We could not get a comment from Makongeni Police Station OCS as he was said to be out of town on duty.
