In his tribute to Jonathan, who was laid to rest at Kabimoi, Eldama Ravine, Baringo county on Saturday, Moi said that he was grateful having fathered him.

He noted that he celebrates the life of the deceased and he will forever miss him.

Moi, who served as president for 24 years, also said that he was mourning Jonathan as a father and not politician.

He thanked friends and family members for joining him to give his son a befitting sendoff. Moi also said that he was surprised that his son decided to venture into farming and rallying during his days on earth.

"Fathers shouldn't bury their children. A son should never be buried by his father but Jonathan's death was God's will. You are the blood of my blood. Stay well son until we meet again. You were not perfect, but you were my son. Blood of my blood," Moi said in a statement read by his son Gideon Moi.

“I am honoured that God chose me to be Jonathan’s father.Jonathan from an early age was a man of the earth and it came as no surprise that later in life his two greatest passions were rallying and farming," he said as quoted by Standard.
