Traffic police officers have been put on notice by Teso North legislator Oku Kaunya following public outcry over harassment.
Speaking in his constituency on Saturday, the legislator noted that the officers ought to respect orders given by their superiors in reference to the extension orders given by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
In a Facebook post, Kaunya noted that he will soon meet the Deputy County Commissioner in order to address the plight of the bodaboda operators.
The former Administration Police (AP) College Commandant and Deputy AP boss in the country said that the Bodabodas play an important part in nation building and economy of the country.
"I call upon the DCC Teso North and the OCPD to ensure the orders are respected with immediate effect and the traffic officers should cease interfering/harassing the Bodabodas who form an integral part of the country's economy and nation building!," his posted on Facebook.
The legislator warned the police of defying orders stating that, rules are made to be respected by all.
"On traffic officers who have continued defying the CS Interior orders over the traffic requirements for the bodaboda sector, I call upon them to respect the orders or I take punitive measures against them. Traffic rules were created to be respected by all and the enforcement must be cordial," he added.
