The two who are cameraman and photographer respectively were reportedly arrested in Shanzu.

It is reported the incident occurred as the two were on an official duty recording some construction work along the beach.

"HAKI Africa wishes to categorically state that there is no private beach in Kenya. We demand for the immediate, unconditional release of the two and subsequent arrest of those behind the journalists' ordeal," ordered the rights group's Executive Director, Hussein Khalid.

Their colleague Mohammed Ahmed said the two were taken to Bamburi police station for taking photos and recordings of the construction of Dolphin Hotel which is reportedly encroaching to the beach.

Through Twitter, NTV said the journalists were roughed up by workers at the site of the multi-billion shilling building in Shanzu, reportedly owned by a top government official.

The two were later released after Nation Group and Haki Africa's follow up.
