At some point in your life, you may feel lonely, and yearning for a deep connection with people who are not there.
Feeling lonely can contribute to stress because it increases cortisol which is a stress hormone.
To feel less lonely, embrace these five habits:
1.Volunteer
Volunteering for at least two hours a week reduces the feeling of loneliness.
You get to interact with people thus creating a human connection with them.
2.Mindfulness
This happens in the form of meditation and helps alleviate loneliness especially in adults.
When you meditate, you get to the root cause of loneliness and identify ways of changing your mindset.
3. Being thankful
Research shows that when you are thankful for the things you have and the people in your life, it increases happiness, social desirability and life satisfaction.
4. Avoid texting
Texting increases the distance between you and the people you are communicating with.
As such, embrace face to face communication to establish a connection that texting doesn’t.
5. Get a hobby
Engage in a hobby that makes you concentrate for long hours such as arts and writing.
Your hobby will definitely release those feel-good hormones, thus increasing a sense of fulfilment.
