Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot has said that the Building Bridges Initiative was politicised right from the beginning.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with NTV on Tuesday, Cheruiyot said that some leaders have decided to take advantage of the report released by the BBI to pursue their political interests at the expense of the electorate.
He argued that the whole idea was borne out of politics after President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga agreed to work together for the sake of the unity of the country.
"If you ask me whether the BBI is being politicised, I will say that the BBI has been about politicians from the beginning because it has been initiated by two politicians," he said.
Speaking on the same platform, Tongaren Member of Parliament Eseli Simiyu said that leaders are behind the polarization of the nation with their comments. He argued that the remarks being made by some of the leaders show that they do not care about the welfare of Kenyans at all.
"When politicians take over, we start getting issues of intolerance and deception. Politicians are not looking at the good of the people, we are polarising the country, "he said.
