Acting Treasury Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ukur Yatani has thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta following his appointment.
Yatani, who is the current CS for Labour, said he will deliver his duties diligently without fear or favour as he takes over the new role.
He made the remarks moments after State House issued a statement confirming his appointment.
"I thank the president for the honour and trust he has bestowed on me by appointing me as acting CS for Treasury and National Planning and I promise to do my best in order to realize the dreams of transforming this nation," he said.
Yatani was appointed to take over the post after former CS Henry Rotich was arrested alongside his Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge over the loss of funds in the multi-million Arror and Kimwarer dams scandal.
According to a communication from State House, the appointment was made to allow for smooth running of the Treasuring and enhance efficient service delivery.
“This will ensure smooth operations and continuity at the National Treasury following the court order affecting Rotich and his PS Kamau Thugge,” State House said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
