Deputy President William Ruto came out on Wednesday to acknowledge Google’s honour of Dr Margaret Ogola for her great work.

DP Ruto appreciated Google’s rare memorial show which he termed as beautiful, touching and absolutely appropriate.

“Those using Google Search today will have seen the beautiful, touching and absolutely appropriate memorial of Dr Margaret Ogola, a Kenyan scholar, writer and doctor, who died 8 years ago,” said DP Ruto.

The late Dr Ogola will be remembered for her great impact in the education sector. 

Google celebrated the 60th birthday of Ogola with a doodle.  

“Happy to celebrate Kenyan award-winning author, activist and doctor, the late Dr Margaret Ogola, author of The River and the Source,” tweeted Google Africa.

Ogola who was the author of “The River and the Source” was a Kenyan born novelist, paediatrician and a human rights advocate. 

Ever since her demise, Dr Ogola remains one of Kenya’s greatest authors of all time. 

The late Ogola who died eight years ago was born on June 12, 1958, in Siaya County. She studied in Kenya and got employed at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) having shown great passion and interest to serve Kenyans in different capacities.
