The youngest Executive Committee Member in the entire devolution set-up has caused excitements in social media after a video of him singing went viral.

Meet Duke Mainga alias Echate, the current minister for Youth, Gender, Sports and Education in Kisii County serving under Governor James Ongwae. 

Echate as he is commonly referred to, was formerly a musician and a student leader in Kisii University before trying his luck in the parliamentary race in 2017.

Abuga Makori, a journalist and former school mate recalls their days in school and terms Echate as a focused man.

"The Kisii County Sports minister Duke Mainga is a musician. During our days in Campus, he was the entertainment boss," said Abuga"

"His talent is absolutely impeccable. He has a bright future indeed, " added Mr Makori.

A social media user shared the ECM's video which the minister says was done years ago when he was 'trying ' life. 

"This was 7yrs ago. I was really good on this. I am tempted to drop one tune soonest possible," said Mr Duke.

Social media users shared the video while commending the minister for working hard to be where he is. On Tuesday, Echate was elected as the Secretary General of the CECMs' caucus on Education ,Youth and Sports. 

"I chaired a meeting with all the Education, Gender, Youth, Culture and Sports County Executive Committee Members from the 47 counties at the Council of Governors’ offices at Delta House, Westlands, Nairobi. 

"We discussed the challenges facing youth empowerment in the grassroots, TVETs among other agenda. I was later on elected as the CEC’s caucus Sec General," read the statement.
