Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has jumped to the defence of DP William Ruto over the allegations peddled by politicians against him.
Mutua said although the country is fully behind the fight against corruption among other vices, the Deputy President deserves respect as far as politicians tend to politicize war on corruption.
Speaking on Wednesday night at the Jeff Koinange (JKL) show, the Machakos Governor sympathized with the DP.
"I think at times people are also unfair to the DP, he has worked hard and the tendency of people always saying he is corrupt without evidence can tarnish somebody," he said.
He added that the DP is a diligent Kenyan servant who has stood all odds challenging those with evidence to present before investigative agencies other than politicking over the matter with no grounds.
"Unless there is evidence, it is important for us to know it is wrong to force an offence on somebody. If people have something against William Ruto, they should come out and say not just force it on him," he added.
The former Government spokesman is also eyeing to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022 and his prospect of facing off with Ruto is much at stake.
DP Ruto has been on the limelight over the current war against corruption scandals in the country.
