The second-term governor accused Wiper politicians of attempting to frustrate his leadership following his election.

As if leaving Wiper was not enough, Mutua thought of forming his own political party to outdo Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

While launching his political party, Mutua said Wiper leaders did not support him and instead wanted to impeach him from the seat.

“The party even supported its MCAs to impeach me. Their mission was to slow me down in my development agenda,” Mutua said.

He added: “Wiper leaders did not at any time when we had meetings discuss development. Their agenda was always to undermine other leaders.”

Mutua and Kalonzo have been engaging in relentless political battles since they parted ways.

In the last general election, Mutua fielded candidates in different posts in Ukambani with the aim of unseating members’ affiliated to Wiper.

The governor has said he will contest for the presidency in 2022 polls.

He is confident that he will beat Kalonzo hands down when that time comes.

Mutua's governorship, however, hangs on the balance after his political rival former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti successfully contested his August 8, 2017's election victory at the Court of Appeal.

Mutua, however, moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the appellant court's decision on the appeal.
