Police in Kegogi area Nyamira County have launched investigations after a form three student was found dead in an isolated home on Sunday morning.
According to some of the locals, the girl was identified by suspicious neighbors of the home who had a stinking smell and later moved in to discover the decomposing body.
“The smell have been around for the last one week however as days went by the smell increased and we decided to search the source of the same and that prompted us to move to the isolated home where we saw the doors open and yet it was closed when we entered we found the body and informed the area chief who later informed the police," said Grace Nyanchera a neighbor to the isolated home
According to the area Chief Edward Ongaga, the family of the girl identified had reported that she has been missing from their home for two weeks before she was found dead.
“Its a great shock to the whole area as well as the parents of the girl as they have been looking for her but unfortunately she has been found murdered," said Ongaga
The chief further said the police have already taken the body to Nyamira Morgue as they launch investigation on the matter to ensure that they arrest those who were involved.
“I would like to call upon locals to work along with the police so that justice can be found for the girl as well as the family of the deceased."
