Area chief Ronald Kerongo said the deceased identified as Julius Kenani has been a notorious lawbreaker in the region.

He said bodaboda operators who were looking for a stolen motorbike stormed the suspect's home, frogmarched him to the road before they killed him.

The chief said the angry bodabodas used crude weapons to kill the suspect.

"The suspect's body had serious knife injuries on the neck and his body had several wounds inflicted on him using crude weapons," Kerongo said even as he appealed to local youths not to engage in criminal activities but instead venture into businesses to earn a living.

"Bodaboda business has helped a lot in addressing unemployment in this country. Those stealing motorbikes should stop before the law catches up with them," he added.

According to the chief, the deceased hailed from Nyanderema village in Itumbe, Kisii County.

The body of the deceased was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
