Terrorists should not kill innocent Kenyans and hide under the veneer of Islam, Mandera County Youth Governor Mohamednur Mamo has said.
Speaking exclusively to Hivisasa, Mamo said that members of the Somali extremist group, al-Shabaab have no religion at all.
“Terrorists have no religion and we are all equally affected by acts of terror,” stated Mamo.
He urged Kenyans to “stand together and shame the devil by refusing to be divided along the lines of religion.”
Mamo who doubles up as a student leader at Mount Kenya University condemned the killing of 21 people at the 14 Riverside Drive attack on Tuesday.
He lauded security agents for their unrelenting efforts in neutralising the four assailants who unleashed terror at DusitD2 hotel complex.
“My sincere prayers are with the family, friends and loved ones of those who lost their lives and those who were injured through the evil act of terrorism,” he added.
He posed a challenge to the youths not to be lured into terrorism through the promise of better financial standing saying terrorism is a vice that only causes grievous harm and no good comes out of it.
The Mandera Youth boss called on all stakeholders to step up in sensitization programmes about violent extremism all over the country.
“I would like to advise fellow youths to be cautious not to be lured into such heinous acts and also urge all stakeholders to help in sensitization about youth radicalization which results in them joining terror groups,” offered Mamo.
