The Kenya African National Union (KANU) party chairman Gideon Moi and Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi on Saturday attended an event together in Kakamega county.
This event sent a strong signal to different political circles as 2022 presidential elections continue to take shape.
Musalia and Senator Moi hinted on working together in the coming general elections meaning that the two might form an alliance which will compete against other political veterans who are already in the presidential race including Deputy President William Ruto.
Leaders from KANU, ANC and Senator James Orengo who represented the ODM party supported the idea of Musalia - Moi alliance.
In the event of the formation of an alliance between Mudavadi and Moi, then this alliance should rest assured of a loss in the coming general elections as the two leaders are experiencing a strong political opposition in their home regions.
In Rift Valley, Senator Moi is trying to overpower the strong waves of DP Ruto and the Jubilee party. Ruto is enjoying the support of larger parts of Rift Valley region as compared to Moi. If he (Moi) wants to win the upcoming election, then he should consider working with DP Ruto.
On his part, Mudavadi who hails from the Western region is facing a stiff competition from FORD-Kenya party which is under the leadership of Bungoma Senator Moses Wentangula and Boni Khalwale.
The two have already declared their support for DP Ruto and this means that voters of this region will be divided.
For the above reasons, the two party leaders should fight for supremacy in their regions before forming an alliance.
