It has now emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday gave Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu a lecture over reckless remarks.
The incident happened in Kiharu, Murang'a County during the funeral ceremony of Thayu Kamau.
Uhuru was angered by Waititu's request to him to go slow on his anti-graft war for the sake of members of the Kikuyu community living in the Rift Valley region.
"Even as we support the war against the graft, we should remember that our people are in Rift Valley and I request that we approach this war together as a team just the way we joined hands in 2013 with our brothers in Rift Valley,” said the county boss as quoted by the Nation.
And though Uhuru retained his cool and never showed any signs of anger towards the governor, he settled the issue with him privately, reprimanding after the event.
The local daily adds that Uhuru scolded Waititu, telling him to desist from dirty and petty politicking.
Waititu also admitted being a member of the 'Tangatanga' team which is a group of Mt Kenya politicians rooting for Deputy President William Ruto's bid to succeed Uhuru in 2022.
The group has been repeatedly condemned by Uhuru for engaging in early politicking, urging them to remain calm and concentrate on service delivery.
