One of the teachers killed in a terrorist attack at Kamuthe primary school in Garissa a few days ago was planning a wedding in April this year, it has emerged.
According to Bernard Kimanzi, the father of 29-year-old Samuel Muthui who was among three teachers that were killed, his son had already started wedding plans.
"During the December holidays, we discussed a lot about his wedding that was scheduled for April. All that is now gone, we don’t even know what to tell his young fiance," Kimanzi said, according to the Standard.
The now-deceased teacher was the last born child in his family and Kamuthe school was his first posting after being employed by the Teacher's Service Commission (TSC).
His father said that the death of his son was a big blow to the family and asked the government to compensate them.
"It's sad to lose a child we invested so much in. He was a very big asset to us. We expect answers from the government," he said, as quoted by the Standard while describing Muthui as an obedient child.
"He was my younger brother but very promising and hard-working. We call on the government to act on the Al-Shabab menace so that we do not lose innocent people in the society," said his brother Victor Mutinda.
Other teachers who were killed on a fateful day are Caleb Muthangya a resident of Kitui and Titus Sasieka Mushindi.
The terrorists attacked the schools as the teachers were asleep.
