In a post on the United States of Kiambu Facebook group, Wamabati expressed his support for Kiambu MP Jude Njomo, arguing that he has what it takes to transform the county.

“I'm proud of my MP Hon Jude Njomo. This is the kind of brains Kiambu needs to take us to the next level.  #Mygavana2022,” he posted.

Wa Mabati lost to Njomo during the Jubilee Party nominations in the run-up to the 2017 general elections.

The Kiambu politician's Facebook post was accompanied by a video of Njomo addressing participants during a meeting to discuss the political economy in the country.

In the video, Njomo argues that one of the major reasons why Kenyans are broke is because contractors are not being paid.

He slammed governors who were in the previous regime for carelessly giving out tenders to contractors for political mileage.

"When new governors are voted in, they make promises to the electorate. However, when they look at their books, they can't do anything because all the money will go into paying old debts. They ask for audits before paying the debts so as to get an opportunity to implement their projects. The audits, however, take too long and may not be able to be addressed by the current governors," said Njomo.

The MP also slammed government officials for giving contracts to foreigners instead of locals, a move he said inhibits the circulation of money in the country.

"The government is doing so many contracts but the majority of them are going to foreigners because our own technocrats and procurement entities have a mentality that foreigners will do a better job than Kenyans," said Njomo.
