Unprotected sex is common in many relationships. Some partners engage in unprotected sex only to end regretting moments after the reaching the climax. There is no reason to panic after you have had unprotected sex since it has already happened. Instead, you should take certain measures for the sake of your health. 1. Take Emergency contraceptive pills

 Many women are not ready to get pregnant. Cases of unwanted pregnancies can be controlled by taking these pills. However, one has to seek advice from a medical doctor before taking pills for the sake of their health. At times pills can affect you in different ways. 

2. Seek Intra-Uterine Device (IUD)

 These devices are normally used to prevent women from getting pregnant. They, however, come with side effects. Women should seek for advice from a trained doctor before opting for these devices lest they experience a number of side effects in the long run. 

 3. Test for STD and HIV

 If you are not sure of your partner’s HIV status then visit a VCT. The testing centers will enable determine whether you are infected or not.  Your status will help choose the correct measures to deal with the situation if you realize you are infected. 

4.  Be calm and watch for symptoms

At times you can be tempted to take certain steps when nothing is wrong. After unprotected sex, be calm and observe your health. Signs such as vaginal discharge and bad odour could mean you are infected. If you notice this then seek medical attention as soon as possible.
