Speaking during an anniversary ceremony of the Nairobi governor’s late father Kioko Mbuvi at Mua hills in Machakos County on Saturday, Kalonzo said he has what it takes to get to the Statehouse.

Kalonzo said Wiper is a strong team, capable of making him to 'beat' his competitors' hands down when that time comes.

“No one can have a political debt, and as Wiper, we have all means to form the next government," Kalonzo said.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and other leaders from Ukambani backed Kalonzo for the nation’s top post.

Sonko said the Wiper leader is the man to watch for the presidency contest in the next polls.

“Not Sonko, not Mutua, not Ngilu but Kalonzo,” Sonko said.

Borabu MP Ben Momanyi said Raila should stay away from the contest, adding that Kalonzo made enough sacrifices for him and it’s time to reciprocate the same in 2022.

“Kalonzo supported Raila in 2013, and 2017, and I don’t want to hear that Raila is running for the seat again," Momanyi said.

Kalonzo is expected to lock horns with Deputy President William Ruto.

The event was attended by Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior among others.
