A middle-aged woman has died after she was stabbed by her husband in Machakos County.
The mother of a six-year-old child succumbed to stab wounds while undergoing treatment at Machakos Level Five Hospital on Saturday.
The deceased had been allegedly stabbed by her husband at Miwani village before she was rushed to the hospital.
According to a family member, the man committed the crime after a scuffle with his wife, now deceased.
The culprit reportedly stabbed the woman on the head and in the stomach before leaving her fighting for her life.
"The kid came crying saying that his dad had cut the mom, we rushed her to the hospital for treatment and reported the matter to the police station," the relative told this writer.
The incident was confirmed by area village elder Francis Wambua who said the man pounced on the woman as she cooked 'ugali'.
Wambua said the woman was rushed to Machakos Level Five Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.
He condemned the act stating that families shouldn't resolve to violence when there's a disagreement.
Wambua said the man had been held at Machakos Police Station as investigations.
He said the suspect had fled after committing the crime before he was arrested by police with the help of irate residents.
The man is expected to appear in court on Monday.
