Lawyer Miguna Miguna has poked holes on the appointment of Colonel retired Cyrus Oguna as the new government spokesman.
In a series of tweets, Miguna claimed that the appointment was a demotion, adding that she should have been given a bigger role in the military.
"Those celebrating the career-ending DEMOTION of Cyrus Oguna by Uhuru Kenyatta are a disgrace to Kenya. If Ouru was genuine he would have PROMOTED Oguna SUCCESSIVELY within the military and placed him in charge of KDF as CHIEF OF DEFENCE STAFF," he tweeted (Sic).
"Government Spokesman is a glorified hollow decoration below that of a departmental director. It is a position from where one only ends up as a paper tiger ambassador to Saudi Arabia. ODM zombies must stop celebrating Ouru's premature termination of Oguna's military career," he added. (Sic).
The government through a statement by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru, on Tuesday announced the appointment of Cyrus Oguna, replacing Eric Kiraithe as government spokesperson with immediate effect.
"Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Odhiambo Oguna appointed Government Spokesman with immediate effect. Colonel (Rtd) Oguna will be based at Ministry of ICT and will have oversight over all Government Communications channel," the Ministry of ICT tweeted.
The Ministry did not indicate why Kiraithe was replaced, and what will happen to him after the appointment.
