Ford-Kenya Deputy Party Leader Boni Khalwale now wants the opposition’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM) parties to come out clear on their actual positions.
This follows the two parties’ separate announcements that they will henceforth collaborate with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee government in the implementation of his Big Four agenda.
Speaking on NTV’s AM Live on Tuesday, Khalwale urged the parties to make up their minds on whether they are still in the opposition or have crossed the floor to the government’s side.
He accused the parties of worsening the already confusing situation, noting that their official position will aid the nation and the remaining opposition parties in chatting the way forward.
‘’We need ODM and Wiper to make up their mind and tell us whether they have moved out of the opposition to join the government or not,’’ he said.
He further called upon his party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to realize his recent declaration that he is the new opposition leader and go ahead to take over the post currently held by ODM chief Raila Odinga.
He advised the former Senate Minority Leader to officiate the process and have house committee slots preserved for the opposition placed in the right hands.
‘’Wetangula must also know that it is not only about making remarks. He should now write to the two house speakers to confirm that the two have exited the opposition and have the house committees freshly constituted and our new opposition side given the priviledges being enjoyed by the others,’’ he added.
Announcing the move on Saturday, however, Wiper maintained that it remains part and parcel of the opposition.
