In what could be a coincidence, ODM leader Raila Odinga would be out of the country at the same time when President Uhuru Kenyatta is scheduled to travel to Washington DC for a meeting with President Donald Trump.

On Friday, Raila left for Germany where he is expected to stay for an entire week.

Without giving explicit details of his Germany tour, Raila tweeted: "Departing for a one week tour of Germany."

And on Saturday, Uhuru, whose working relationship with Raila has blossomed lately, will be leaving for the US upon invitation of President Trump.

The Head of State will be in White House on August 26th, his first ever sole meeting with the US boss.

Besides improving relationship between the two countries, Uhuru is expected to lobby for a position in UN security council.

"The president will lobby for Non Permanent Representative member and he will meet Trump and British PM for that," a source told the Nation.

Raila, who reconciled with Uhuru in March after epic battle in 2017, is rumoured to have been given a state job in the name of Special Envoy.

In his recent tours to India and South Africa, the former PM has been accorded state reception even though he has persistently denied working for government.

"I am not in government. I am just Raila Odinga. I don't have powers to appoint. That's the prerogative of the president," he said in an interview with Citizen TV.

Just on Thursday, the two leaders met at State House during a function held in honour of Kenyan women.

Their coincidental trip could ignite yet another debate given that the two are said to have secretly met in Mombasa early this month.
