In the wake of ongoing impeachments targeting county assembly speakers, Nyamira's Moffat Teya now accuses his former deputy of instigating propaganda through media over Sh379 million building.
Officers from EACC are already investigating claims that procurement and tendering process was flawed following a petition by former Senator Mong'are Okong'o.
And in a sharp response over bribery allegations in tendering of the building, Teya now insists that his outed deputy Duke Omoti 'is bitter because he did not get the tender's.
"EACC will soon find out that there is no law which was violated. Everything was done in accordance to the law.
"My former deputy is bitter over his ouster and the fact that he wasn't given the tender. He is even asking for kickbacks from the contractor and now has reverted to smearing my name," he said in an exclusive interview.
A local publication had alleged that MCAs received between Sh20,000 to Sh400,000 to authorize construction of the building which will house their offices.
The bulding is expected to take two financial years, a period which the speaker says is 'reasonable'.
Mr. Omoti, the Kiabonyoru MCA, has also moved to court to seek removal of Mr. Teya over a trip of 8 MCAs to Singapore.
"Most of MCAs have been corrupted and there is no justice I can get at the assembly. I am now relying on our courts," he said.
A Kisumu court had reinstated him but he's yet to resume duty since the assembly had elected Robson Mocheche to take over from him.
