A section of members of the Agikuuyu community living in Uasin Gishu county has hit out at Jubilee party Vice Chairman David Murathe following his recent utterances that Mt Kenya has no Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with anyone concerning 2022 presidential race.
Led by a prominent businessman in Eldoret town Joseph Wainaina, they said the utterances were ill intended and meant to bring bad blood between their community and the Kalenjins whom they have been staying as brothers and sisters.
Murathe, a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta made the remarks during the 39th Maragoli cultural celebrations in Vihiga County on Sunday.
“As leaders of the Kikuyu community from Uasin Gishu, we want to condemn the utterances with the strongest terms possible. Murathe was not speaking for the community and that was his own opinion,” Wainaina said terming the Jubilee party Vice Chairman as a political broker whose aim is to get political mileage.
He reaffirmed that the Mt Kenya region will fully support DP Ruto's 2022 presidential ambition.
“This time around we will not allow some few individuals to mislead us on who to vote for. We will vote for Dr Ruto whether he wins or not,” insisted Wainaina who also challenged Murathe to concentrate on building the Jubilee party instead of telling Kenyans on who to vote for as it was not his mandate.
