Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko recently won the heart of many Kenyans after he stepped up to help Boniface Murage.
Murage was arrested and taken to court for trying to smuggle his own baby out of Kenyatta National Hospital for what he described as the inability to pay the Sh56,000 hospital bill.
Touched by his plight, the Nairobi Governor Sonko secured a lawyer for 22-year-old Murage and also, paid the outstanding hospital bill.
He also gave the young man a job.
Sonko's benevolence, pundits argue, should be emulated by other leaders.
Blogger Albert Nyakundi Amenya alias Banana Peddler praised Sonko noting that "leaders should not be coming just for grand-standing, just to be seen in the media that they are doing helping and later vanish."
Political analyst Dr Onyango Ochieng Jnr lauded Sonko for giving the young man a job from which he will comfortably take care of his family.
"We thank Governor Sonko and want to urge other leaders to mirror what Governor Sonko did. Don't just go to the camera to be seen, make a follow up to see if the person you are helping has something to do, that's leadership," remarked the blogger.
