Former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando has accused close allies and advisors of President Uhuru Kenyatta of lying to him.
Kabando noted there was a growing rebellion against the head of state in his Mt Kenya backyard, saying it seemed Uhuru was slow to act due to the 'misleading' advice he was getting from his confidants.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, he accused Deputy President William Ruto of allegedly being behind the hostility Uhuru was facing in Mt Kenya region, and urged the President to tame him.
"It time Uhuru boldly called the bluff on Ruto. Time is fast running out on him. It’s not only country that’s impatient. His so-called backyard’s restlessness is escalating dangerously. His MEN are lying to him. Things are elephant. But he can reverse lame-duck status by acting," he said.
Kabando said prominent leaders in Central Kenya were failing to defend Uhuru from accusations from a section of MPs in the region because some of the concerns they were raising were genuine, and the Jubilee Party leader had allegedly refused to act upon them.
The vocal politician, however, was quick to note that some of the allegations made by some Tanga Tanga MPs were not true, observing they were meant to endear the DP to the residents of Central Kenya.
"Truth said, lamentations on Rais easily resonating with Central Kenya (and that's) exactly why leaders, including Governors, aren’t defending. But what Tangatanga brigade is perpetrating is NOT wholly true. It’s vicious conspiracy for Ruto to disinherit Uhuru. Ruto’s greed for money and power is EVIL," he posted.
Among legislators who have been very vocal in criticising Uhuru are Alice Wahome (Kandara), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) and Gatundu South's Moses Kuria.
