While the media has already done a great job in briefing Kenyans on some of the proposed changes, more details still remain unknown to many, a day after the report's release.

Among them is the job the Prime Minister, who will be nominated by the President from Parliament.

According to the document, the Prime Minister will sit in the National Assembly, where he will be the leader of government business, a job currently done by National Assembly Majority Leader and Garissa Town MP Aden Duale.

The holder of the seat will act as the president's representative in the house and will carry out any role ordered by the president, but will not be entitled to any additional pay.

The report which was prepared by the 14-member task force picked by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga after their 2018 truce suggests that the PM, being an elected MP, will only receive his MP's salary.

If the amendment proposals are passed, the Prime Minister will be in charge of supervising the execution of day-to-day functions and affairs of government.

The report also suggests the formation of Minister of State positions, persons whose job will be to ensure parliamentary accountability and will operate under Cabinet Ministers.

These appear like the replacement of the Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS), who are currently holding similar positions and a reintroduction of the Assitant Minister seats.

They too will be appointed from among members of the National Assembly and will not enjoy any additional salary.

The proposal comes as a disappointment to persons who were initially expecting that it will elevate the Prime Minister to a powerful position and render the president a ceremonial figure.

Instead, the report suggests that the President will remain the head of government and state, the Commander-In-Chief of the Defence Forces and the symbol of national unity.
