A 31-year-old man from Kiebogi village in Meru county has lost his life after a beating from a gang.
The incident was confirmed by Miruriri location chief Edward Gitonga.
Gitonga said that the man succumbed to injuries inflicted by the gang that had been sent by his parents to discipline him.
Apparently, the man was a chronic drunk who would cause a commotion and insult his parents on arriving home. His parents had on many occasions warned him against his vices in vain.
Village elders had reportedly intervened to help with the situation but their advice fell on deaf ears.
However, his parents have denied any involvement in the beating that took their son's life.
The deceased's mother observed that on a fateful day, the man arrived home at 2:30 am where he asked for water to drink and proceeded to sleep only to be found dead in the morning.
The area chief was quoted by Nairobi News saying that the matter was reported to the police and investigations have begun.
He said that blood-stained clubs and thick sticks we're recovered from the parent's farm.
Irate residents who linked the parents to the murder gathered at the home baying for the blood of the couple.
"This is an adult and if he had committed any crime he should have been reported to the police. People should use the right channel to handling cases and avoid taking the law into their hands," Nairobi News quoted Gitonga.
