More than 10 families are spending nights in the cold after a fire razed down their houses in Ponda Mali estate Nakuru.

The cause of the fire that started in one of the houses before escalating to the whole plot is yet to be established.

However, locals have faulted Nakuru county fire response unit over what they term as slow response.

According to the residents, the rate of damage could have been under control if the fire team responded quickly.

Residents also lashed out at a group of youths who used the moment to steal electronic gadgets that had been saved from the burning houses.
