Ruto and team have repeatedly been heard crying foul and claiming that the fight is aimed at soiling his name by painting him corrupt with the aim of sabotaging his future ambitions.

However, speaking on Monday, Andati said the narrative should not be used as an excuse by Ruto's camp, as the DP already has a "bad history".

He wondered why his allies are very concerned about the corruption issue yet Ruto has a worse record which landed him at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta were among six Kenyans who were mentioned by former ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno Ocampo as the persons behind the 2007 post election clashes.

"Hakuna matope anayopakwa Ruto maana yeye na Uhuru walichaguliwa wakiwa na kesi kubwa zaidi kule ICC. Hakuna kesi inayoweza kuwa kubwa kuliko hiyo.

(There is nothing like his name being soiled, he already has a bigger criminal record at the ICC alongside the president anyway)," he said.

He was speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show on Monday morning.

However, the commentator noted that the criminal background and the new ones being levelled against the DP are very unlikely to affect his 2022 presidential ambitions.

He added that Kenyans largely vote on tribal lines and do not really care about the integrity of candidates.

"Wakenya huwa hawaangalii integrity wanachagua tu (Kenyans don't really pay attention about integrity, they just choose who they want)," he added.

Ruto's allies have since embarked on an attempt to scrap the Director of Criminal Investigations's powers to prevent him from investigating corruption cases.

They have accused DCI George Kinoti of being used by stronger forces to sabotage the DP.
