Eldoret West OCPD Zachariah Bittok on Monday confirmed that four suspects were being questioned over the theft which was reportedly discovered by farm manager.

According to him, the eggs were discovered in the farm hidden. They were recovered and investigations have since been launched to establish the motive.

"All the workers denied knowledge of the missing eggs and the manager started a search and discovered that the four suspects had hidden the crates in one section of the farm," the OCPD said.

"We recovered trays from various suspects. Some had two, three and so fourth. We are questioning the suspects," he added.

But security officers attached to the farm have denied the claims, adding that 'such a thing could not happen in their presence', further raising questions about the authenticity of the reports.

One of the GSU officer manning the expansive Sugoi farm said nothing of the sort happened in the farm. Further, he added, such a thing could have perhaps occurred elsewhere.

“Such a thing can never happen here. Unless it happened elsewhere,” an officer said.

In 2017, police officers shot dead a man who had invaded the farm, thirty minutes after DP William Ruto had left. During the gunfire exchanges, a security officer was also gunned down.
