Hours after it emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta may have met DP William Ruto on Tuesday to 'psychologically' prepare him for impending high profile arrests over corruption, the DP has dismissed the claims as propaganda.
A section of the media reported that President Uhuru Kenyatta, in his one on one meeting with Ruto, explained to him why the two should speak from the same script in the fight against corruption.
“The Head of State asked the DP to join hands with him to slay the dragon of corruption. He told him should he see any high profile arrests, he should not take it personally,” a source said.
While Uhuru has vowed to ensure those involved in corruption are prosecuted using the existing laws, DP William Ruto has however termed the ongoing graft purge as political witch-hunt, a claim which Uhuru dismissed on Thursday.
Are Kiambaa on Sunday, Ruto accused media of fueling propaganda to set him against the president, insisting that the 'leaked' secrets about the meeting as reported by the media we're untrue.
"Just like as Father said, Pharisees and scribes used to dwell on propaganda. Seems these people did not start such antics today. They like exaggerating everything all the time when writing.
"Today on papers, the newspaper people were at it again. They report that I secretly met the president and then ho ahead to say what we discussed. Interestingly, they were not even there. Let's stop spreading propaganda," he said in a video posted by State House Director Digital Communication Dennis Itumbi.
According to the media reports, Uhuru could sack at least three ministers implicated in various scandals, who are said to be close to the Deputy President thus Uhuru's decision to visit the DP.
Reports also indicate that Uhuru may have been advised by Raila Odinga to reach out to Ruto before such drastic measures. Uhuru is said to have met Raila before visiting Harambee Annex for a meeting with Ruto.
