Last week, Sonko postponed naming of his deputy once again, arguing that he had received a request to consider a candidate from NASA coalition.

"I have postponed naming of deputy governor because I received another late submission from NASA coalition. I will go through it before I make a decision," Sonko told reporters.

Last year Sonko named self proclaimed NRM general Miguna Miguna as his deputy but the latter declined, insisting that the governor had not consulted him.

And on Monday, the ODM party confirmed nomination of two candidates who will add to Sonko's list of four favourite front runners for the post.

"NASA Secretariat has confirmed that it has proposed the names of Jane Wangui Muringi (ODM) & Rahab Wangui Ndambuki (Wiper Democratic Movement) to the Governor of Nairobi County Hon. @MikeSonko for consideration to the vacant position of the Deputy Governor of Nairobi City County." https://twitter.com/TheODMparty/status/1084809519677558785?s=19

Last week, the Raila Odinga led party through Secretary General Edwin Sifuna dismissed Sonko's claims but NASA Secretariat under Norman Magaya released the letters on Monday.

Mr Sonko has been working without a deputy months after Senate passed a legislation allowing governors to nominate deputies should a vacancy arise.

The seat was left vacant following resignation of Polycarp Igathe, who accused Sonko of belittling him in thr management of city despite earlier agreement that he will be in charge of policy.
