Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa has condemned a Kikuyu song titled 'Hatuna Deni, Kitaeleweka' which insinuates that Mt Kenya voters will not support Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 general election.
Ichung'wa argued that the song is pure propaganda and does not mean anything in regards to the 2022 general election.
Speaking in Kikuyu Town on Sunday, Ichung'wa blamed certain forces whom he claimed sponsored the song in an effort to try to block DP Ruto's 2022 bid.
"We are not going to be intimidated and Deputy President William Ruto remains our choice for president in 2022," he said.
Ichung'wa asked the authors of the vernacular song that has been widely shared on various social media platforms to pull it down.
He also asked DP Ruto to ignore the song, adding that Mt Kenya's support for him in 2022 is unstoppable.
Ichung'wa said that they will honour the agreement they made with Ruto when 2022 comes.
The 'Hatuna deni, Kitaeleweka' song has elicited sharp reactions among politicians allied to the DP.
On Sunday, DP Ruto said that no one owes him any debt, and urged Kenyans to ignore propaganda and join hands in building the nation.
