Matiang’i said a section of leaders are seeking political mileage by fueling ethnic animosity in Isiolo and the neighboring counties.

He said that that government will take action against politicians who are inciting innocent Kenyans against each other.

The CS said the area comprises of clans which are sensitive to political rhetoric that can easily ignite inter-clan skirmishes.

According to kbc.co.ke, four people were killed on Tuesday following incitement from politicians.

Speaking on Thursday during a tour in Isiolo, Matiang’i said investigations into the Tuesday incident is ongoing adding action will be taken against those found culpable.

“The government will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute any person who will be found inciting Kenyans for selfish gains.”

“I am urging the political class to restrain themselves and avoid utterances that might ignite hatred among different clans. The County is prone to insecurity due to an influx of aliens on transit to other destinations,” he said.

CS Matiang’i added that the government will provide enough security in the region.
