Ronald Ongweso hails from Nyanchogochi village in Bogusero ward, Kisii County.
Ongweso said he completed his KCSE exams and attained a mean grade of C+ from Raganga secondary school in 2002.
He said he joined Hema hospital medical training college in 2003 and trained for a nursing certificate for 2 years.
Due to poverty, Ongweso said he didn't proceed to pursue a diploma course.
"I could not proceed with my diploma since there was no money. I started working at local private hospitals before I opened my own clinic in 2010," he said.
The father of two said life became hard since he didn't manage to get a nursing license.
He said he approached his uncle in 2016 who advised him to pursue a different course.
"My uncle told me to chose a different course which will give me fewer troubles because I was being arrested often for lacking a license to run a private clinic," he said.
In 2016 September, he joined Bondo Teachers Training College to pursue a P1 course.
"I had no option I joined BTTC in 2016 September with the few money I had saved and also leased my piece of land to pay school fees. I passed well after completing my P1 course and graduated this year in April. As we speak I am registered with TSC and currently working at Riverbank Academy, a private school," he noted.
He said he is chasing dreams to become one of the most influential teachers in the village.
