A recent report by Auditor General Edward Ouko has revealed loss of money amounting to millions in the lakeside county of Kisumu.
According to the report for the 2017/2018 financial year, the whereabouts of Sh65 million cannot be explained.
The funds were part of Sh95 million allocated for the purchase of vehicles and other transport services for the county.
According to Ouko, the money cannot be accounted for as its usage cannot be justified and is not documented.
“The propriety of the vehicles cannot be ascertained since they are not supported by receipts of payments," he is quoted by Citizen Digital.
The same report is putting the county leadership on the spot over the purchase of a rig at Sh60 million.
The machine which was procured by former Governor Jack Ranguma in May 2017 to help raise water scarcity in some parts of the county has no ownership documentation.
The machine and it's 3 components bought at Sh59, 122, 815 has no logbook.
And though the current leadership under Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has continued to use it to drill boreholes, its yet to to confirm whether the document was acquired.
It was also not documented in the fixed asset register, according to Ouko.
