Throughout last year, the eldest daughter of Kenya's opposition leader, did not show up in public events after reportedly going blind while undergoing brain tumor treatment in South Africa.

In February this year, her uncle Dr Oburu Oginga, said that she had made tremendous progress in recovery. She was taken to China for eye surgery to restore her vision which was tampered with.

"As you know Rosemary was sick but we thank God she has now recovered fully," said Dr Oginga. He added: "She is a true Odinga and a fighter. This is evident in the spirit she has fought this illness with.

"Her mother Ida Odinga said: "Last year, we missed this annual church service because it was that day that Rosemary underwent a major surgery in China. But it is through your (congregants) prayers that she was healed."

Last week, Ms Odinga also showed up in jet father's Capitol Hill offices unsupported. She had accompanied Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu for a meeting with Mr Odinga.

Ms Odinga quit politics months to 2017 polls after suffering from brain tumor. She was set to contest in Kibra constituency along with ailing Ken Okoth, who is struggling with cancer.

While it's not clear whether Rosemary will bounce back to politics, her younger sister Winnie, has often accompanied Mr Raila Odinga to various functions raising eyebrows over a possible entry to politics.

At Kasarani, Rosemary sat beside Sports minister Amina Mohammed and she made entry to the stadium with her father although unaided. The latest development could be a great joy to Mr Odinga's family.
