Speaking in Ratta, Seme constituency in Kisumu county on Friday, the duo said that they will remain true to the details of the truce and will not be shaken by critics.

They said that the plan is to ensure that peace and stability ahead of the 2022 election season, with Uhuru hoping that their union will better the lives of Kenyans.

"We agreed that the only thing that could change Kenya was our coming together and working together to straighten things in this nation," the president was quoted by the Nation.

The two were speaking during the burial of area governor Anyang' Nyong'o's mother Mama Dorka Nyong'o.

Raila echoed the remarks, adding that they are also united in fighting the graft menace, with the former Premier noting that nobody will be spared in the fight against corruption.

Raila also bashed the church for allowing itself to be used as the laundry for stolen monies.

"There is no pity [at this stage]. We want the lords of corruption thrown into prison ... placed behind bars," said Raila, in an event that was also attended by Nyong'o and other area leaders and top state officials.
