Jaoko, who is licensed firearm holder is accused of shooting dead Peter Otieno, a Coast Bus employee at Polyview Estate in Kisumu, after a scuffle ensued between them, and has been at Kodianga remand prison since.

He was on Monday arraigned before Kisumu High Court Judge Fred Ochieng where he pleaded not guilty to the murder charges pressed against him.

He also pleaded with the court to be released on bond.

However, the application was opposed by prosecutor Peter Munya who said that if freed, the suspect will interfere with witnesses which could cripple the case.

In his ruling, the judge sent Jaoko back to Kodiaga for 14 days, setting September 23 as the date for the bail application ruling.

Initial details indicated that Jaoko shot Otieno after he requested the suspect to remove his car which was blocking Otieno's car from leaving the estate.

It was found out that the suspect was at the estate to drop off his girlfriend before picking a quarrel with the deceased and subsequently shooting him in the chest.
