Mosop MP Vincent Tuwei has expressed concern over the manner in which school management boards in Nandi county engage in corruption and embezzlement of funds.
He was speaking during a function at Laboret primary school in Mosop, Nandi county on Friday.
The vocal legislator argued that there was a certain fee imposed on pupils and students by the school management boards on claims that it would be used to construct classrooms and other structures or fund other school projects.
Further, he alleged that the county government allocates money meant to improve infrastructure in schools every year.
Tuwei claimed that the large sums of money would have been enough to fund all the projects in schools.
However, the MP wondered how the levies collected from pupils and students were being expended because there were no tangible structures and projects in a number of schools.
"(We do not know where that money goes to) Hatujui mahali pesa hio inaenda," said Tuwei.
The lawmaker who is also a close ally to the deputy president William Ruto hit out on school management boards for failing to utilize the funds they usually receive well.
He asserted that schools had failed to provide sufficient accountability for funds they were spending hence, making the public to suspect that money was being squandered through corrupt deals.
Recently, Education CS Prof George Magoha had warned secondary schools of hiking school fees on claims of catering for projects and other expenditures.
