Former Makadara parliamentary hopeful Brian Weke has predicted that the Kibra parliamentary race will ultimately be won by an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate.
This comes at a time when both the Amani National Congress (ANC) and the ruling Jubilee Party have shown interest in challenging ODM for the vacant seat.
Weke opined that the constituency remains a stronghold of ODM leader Raila Odinga, adding that other parties should cease wasting their time hoping to clinch the seat.
He argued that while ANC can receive some little consideration on grounds that its part of the opposition's National Super Alliance (NASA), it should not dream of a win.
"According to Kibra dynamics, its a NASA zone. Talking about ANC can't be far fetched (Dynamics za Kibra; hiyo ni ngome ya wanaNASA, labda uongee mambo ya ANC)," he said on Saturday.
Weke, who is also a lawyer and a political commentator, made the remarks in an interview on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.
He opined that while the party's losses in previous by-elections have been blamed on poor nominations, it is likely to win in Kibra regardless of how the primaries are conducted.
He predicted a situation where the person who wins in the party primaries will be the one to succeed the late Ken Okoth in Parliament.
"Whoever will be picked by ODM the chapter will have been closed, regardless of where the others will go (Yule atatolewa na chama cha ODM, hata awe nani, hiyo chapter imeisha. Hata hao wengine waende wapi)," he added.
ANC has since picked former area parliamentary hopeful Eliud Owalo to fly the party's flag.
